Who is a Data Scientist?

The 21st century is a blend of various technology trends and tools that promise security and quality of living. Scientists believe that the new trends are surely going to present a new reality to the living sector.

Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Data Science, and Human Augmentation are some of the new trends of 2021. The pandemic effect rapidly forced us to confront a new reality in our way of living. Most of the people are after the online facilities to get a matter done. Business and academic sectors have a very rapid enhancement in their dependence on the Information Technology sector.

We see a lot of online degrees and courses from accredited universities and international institutions for the new technological trends. Data scientists and analysts are in great demand these days. This article reads more about data science and its possibilities.

What is Data Science?
Data Science is a mathematical and statistical approach to structured and unstructured data. It extracts the facts and figures via various algorithms and processes and brings them to the application realm.

Difference between structured and unstructured data
Structured data are information structured in predefined formats. Data and information arranged in excel spreadsheets, tables, statistical maps, graphs etc are some examples of structured data.

Structured Data

Unstructured data has a qualitative approach where the information can be structured only in its original formats. It can’t be structured in predefined formats. Images, videos, text messages etc are examples of unstructured data.

What does a data scientist do?
Data scientists perform the analysis and automation of structured and unstructured data through various scientific algorithms, programs, statistics etc. They extract the data from various sources like internet searches, social media, commercial sites, surveys, feedbacks etc. They analyse, process and model the acquired data and then propose practicable growth strategies to companies and organisations.

Who is eligible for a data scientist job?
The eligibility criteria for a data scientist is,
  • Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Science/Business Administration/Engineering/Computer Applications/Statistics/Commerce/ Mathematics.
Internships and Data Science courses from recognised universities are also an added advantage along with the corresponding degrees.

Experts predict that by 2026, there would be magnificent growth in the field of Data Science and more job opportunities are emerging for data engineers, scientists, and analysts.
