What is Structured Cabling?

Telecommunication system provides the pathway for the transmission of data signals worldwide. These signals constitute audio-video signals, radio signals, word texts etc. Telecommunication has both wired and wireless topologies of network structure. The clubbing of these networks carry out the process of structured cabling.

What is Structured Cabling?
Structured cabling is the cable management zone of colossal telecommunication network. It is structured with several standardised system components. It serves as the backbone to telecommunication network infrastructure. It makes the networking reliable, productive and secure. Structured cabling can be installed in the building or a property structure to serve as the cable management junction.

Structured cabling is designed and installed in a way so that it can fulfil the present and future demands of the corresponding telecommunication network. It ensures the accommodation of upcoming new hardware requirements. This making cable management easy as the business grows.

How is it wired?
An estimated quote for any buildings structured cabling on the whole comprises of data and fibre components, cabling, and cabinets. Let us dig into the details.

1.Telecommunication room and cabinets
Structured cabling for a building require a space of its own to accommodate the tele-cables and other hardware elements. Cabinets are provided in the corresponding telecommunication rooms of the buildings. Racks are provided for the placement of sufficient fibre technical devices.

2.Cables
Fibre optic cables, coaxial cables, and CAT cables are the key components of network structure. Cabling is divided into two, horizontal and vertical. Horizontal cabling is the connection from the tele-work area in the rooms(end user equipment) to the horizontal connectors in the  structure cabling cabinets. Vertical cabling comprises of the interconnection between telecommunication rooms or equipment rooms.

3. Panels and other fibre elements
Patch panels, patch cords, keystones (90 and 180 degrees) are also there to complete the process of structured cabling. Cat patch panels and fibre patch panels are installed for the respective wiring. The interconnections and terminations of fibre and cat cables are made easy using the patch panels.

Successful execution of structured cabling has a significant impact on performance and maintenance costs of telecommunication networks. And also, it must be flexible accordingly to the business growth.
