Myth 1: Low voltage applications are not dangerous.
Fact: This is an era of low voltage applications. People have a misconception that low voltage system cannot make electric shocks to humans. We may sometimes leave battery-driven motorised toys to kids without supervision. Of course, these small toys could make electrical shock/hazards if not used properly. Rather than the voltage, it the current that can harm the human body.
Myth 2: Wood is the best insulator.
Fact: Of course, wood is a poor conductor of electricity. But several factors can contribute to its conductivity property such as moisture and alike substances. Never use a wet wooden surface as an insulating medium.
Myth 3: Overhead power lines are well insulated.
Fact: This is one such common and shocking myth. Many people have lost their lives due to this myth or by the lack of this knowledge. All the lines are active and not at all insulated. We might see crows sitting on those lines without shocks. It is just because crows do not provide a path for the complete circulation of the current while sitting on the line. Which means they are not in touch with the ground. Always avoid the chance of contact with the overhead power lines. Call the corresponding authority in the event of any sort of power line issues.
Myth 4: A broken and downed power line has zero current.
Fact: Never go near a downed power line without the knowledge of its corresponding energy status. It is the duty of the corresponding authorities to deal with these faulty lines. High current passes and sudden death can occur in the event of contact with the active broken and downed lines.
