How secure do you need your residential area to be?

This article answers all these questions. Also, it will explain the need and working of access control systems.

ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEMS
Access control systems prevent the unauthorized access of resources or premises. It can enhance the security and efficiency of an organization. It can be specially adapted to your requirements. Depending on the specific security requirements, different technologies, devices, and systems can be put into use. It basically performs authorization, identification, and authentication of entities through different access control techniques. One such controlling techniques which can perform the monitoring, controlling, and restricting the movement of people in and out of a building is called door access control.

DOOR ACCESS CONTROL
Mechanical locks and keys have been used for ensuring the security of facilities for decades. The loss of keys finds discomfort to the accessing personalties. The keys used can easily be duplicated. This sort of duplication can be a reason for the insecurity of your premises.

Electronic door access control keeps away anyone who is not supposed to enter your premise. Also, it can be used to monitor the access of your resources or entities.  Several offices use this system to track the arrival and departure of the employees.  A commercial security for our business can be achieved by employing door access control.

How does this door access control work?
Access control basically works with a controller and an electronic locking system. The door access can be controlled by following ways,
  • Access cards.
  • Biometrics access -fingerprint/thumb impression/face recognition.
  • Access through password entry on a keypad.

Door access control usually has an electronic locking system and a controller. The locking system can be placed on the door side. The appropriate credential will be required for a person to enter to that particular premise or room. Accessing can be achieved either through smart cards, code entry on a keypad, or by means of biometric analysation.

Smart cards and biometric access are recommended for buildings that require a high level of security. Card readers, biometric analyzers or keypads will be installed at the door side. The smart card can be swiped on or placed over a card reader. Access control by means of biometrics requires either fingerprint/thumb impression or face recognition.

If anyone wants to enter the security premise, they must present the appropriate credential. That is either swiping cards, providing the thumb impression on the sensor, or typing the security codes on the keypad. When the corresponding credentials are presented, the access reader reads the information and sends it to the controller. Then the controller checks whether the information is from an authorized personality. If it is so, the controller will release the electromagnetic door lock and makes the person enter the premise. Thus it prevents the unauthorized entry to the secured building.

Several multinational companies use the biometrics access control system. It is fool proof method by which the management can be certain about the employee's arrival and departure. And also this technique prevents the proxy attendance of the employees. Thus the door access control improves security as well as the efficiency of the company.
