Is Your Device KNX Compatible? Here’s How to Find Out!

To check if a device is KNX compatible, follow these steps:

 1. Look for the KNX Logo

Genuine KNX devices will usually have the KNX logo printed on:

  • The product itself.
  • The packaging.
  • The datasheet or manual.

2. Check the Product Datasheet or Manual

Look for keywords like:

  • "KNX TP" (Twisted Pair)
  • "KNX RF" (Radio Frequency)
  • "KNX IP" (Ethernet-based)

It should mention support for ETS software (Engineering Tool Software used for KNX programming).

It may say “Certified KNX device” or similar.

 3. Check the Official KNX Product Database

Go to the official KNX Association website:

 https://www.knx.org/

Navigate to “Product Database” or “KNX Product Search”.

Enter the manufacturer or product name.

If it shows up, it is KNX-certified.

 4. Contact the Manufacturer

If you’re unsure, reach out to the product’s manufacturer and ask:

“Is this device KNX certified?”

“Can it be programmed using ETS?”

 5. Try Adding it in ETS (if available)

If you have access to ETS software:

Try importing the device’s .knxproj or .vd5 file.

If ETS recognizes it and allows configuration, it's a KNX device.

Important Notes

RS485 or Modbus compatibility does not mean KNX compatibility. A device can support multiple protocols, so check clearly which protocols are natively supported.
