KSEB (Kerala State Electricity Board) to implement various renewable electricity projects in Kerala. It aims to traverse and productively exploit the state's various renewable energy sources. Thereby, making the "God's own country" statement technically also factual.
KSEB to launch Soura project by mid of 2021. It is aiming to install solar panels on many residential as well as commercial rooftops. The first phase of the project has received a large number of applications in early 2019. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy allotted the project to the state Kerala with a 50 MW scheme.
What is the eligibility criteria?
Applicants will be selected based on extensive screening processes. Selection criteria is mainly based on the average energy consumption. Any domestic KSEB consumer with an average monthly consumption up to 200 units of electricity is eligible for this project. Each applicant has three models to choose from; that is up to 120, 150, and 200 units of average monthly energy consumption.
Covid 19 pandemic had delayed the project phase-1 installation processes in 2020. But year mid witnessed the installation procedures for the selected applicants. The work is still in progress and by the mid of 2021 the Soura scheme to be officially launched and be active.
KSEB Soura aims to bring money saving and green energy for the residents as well as small commercial establishments. Implementation of renewable energy projects will eventually reduce the pollution and thereby enhance the ease of living.
