KSEB to offer free WiFi

The KSEB (Kerala State Electricity board) aims to build a reliable and faster fiber optic network across the state. And that project is named as the Kerala Fiber Optic Network K-FON. The Government of Kerala announced that the project to be launched by December 2020. K-FON is a joint venture of KSEB and KSITIL ( Kerala State IT Infrastructural Limited).

The cost estimation of the project is about 1500 crores. K-FON can bring faster and reliable internet facilities to hospitals, schools and many other public institutions. It promises budget friendly wifi to the public sector and also free wifi to poor families  along with their KSEB connection.

K-FON is one of the promising projects to drive post-Covid economy of Kerala. It is believed to attract many investments.   Also, it promises internet for all. The project was started in 2016 and delayed due to some technical reasons. But now the project is arriving towards its final stage.
